Mind&Melody, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that implements interactive volunteer based music programs with educational and therapeutic benefits for individuals experiencing neurological impairments. Our music programs are designed to cater to those without a music background, and are taught by a team of volunteers that work together to share their passion for teaching, performing music, and improving the quality of life for people.

Our music sessions begin with simple music theory lessons and progress to teaching the participants how to create music with a color-coded system we developed. Participants are able to learn about music while increasing dexterity, speech, and working memory. Participants experiencing neurological impairments greatly benefit from our program because of the cognitive, social, physical, and creative stimulation. Our programs also provide the opportunity for young people to develop their leadership and empathy skills. This leads to a better understanding of neurological impairments and a bright future for the students we grow into leaders of tomorrow. In the picture above you can see participants learning to play the scale with some fun instruments called Boomwhackers!

The Pianist
One participant used to play the piano frequently, but like many others had stopped recently due to his dementia. During one of our sessions, he gained the courage to get up and improvise on the piano while a volunteer musician improvised with her violin next to him. The collaboration between the participant and the volunteer musician was a truly magical and impressive moment to witness.

Mind&Melody, Inc. provides many opportunities for people to get involved and give back to their community. Our programs consist of interactive music activities for participants experiencing neurological impairments. Our volunteers work together to share their passion for teaching, performing music, and improving the quality of life for people. We also have volunteering opportunities that can be completed from home!
You do not need to be a musician to volunteer with us; our music programs are designed to cater to those without a music background! Our headquarters are in Florida, but we have volunteering opportunities all across the USA!
